ThinkFun® Inc., the leading creator of mind challenging games, announced today that Ralph J. Cuomo has been promoted to President and Chief Operating Officer. Bill Ritchie, founder and former president, will retain the position of Chief Executive Officer. Under the leadership of Mr. Cuomo, who joined the company three years ago, ThinkFun® has achieved solid annual double digit growth along with record revenues and profits each of those three years.
After 18 years of operating under the name Binary Arts, Mr. Cuomo spearheaded a company name change to ThinkFun®, further reinforcing his focus on building the company’s brand awareness at both the retail and consumer level. Ralph’s approach to building the brand and creating value has, and continues to be, conducted in a strategic manner. He has led various initiatives, self-financed through growth, including a range of merchandising efforts, a commercial spot targeted at specific consumer groups and, most recently, a packaging redesign intended to create a consistent communication structure and family line look that clearly identifies the ThinkFun® brand and its products to consumers.
“This is the first time since ThinkFun’s inception that I do not hold the title of President, however I could not think of a more qualified, more passionate person to relinquish the reins to” said Bill Ritchie. “Ralph has an affinity for our products, our brand and our future, and he has demonstrated his ability to quickly learn all aspects of the business and greatly contribute to our growth and continuing success.”
Prior to joining ThinkFun, Ralph was Executive Vice President of Operations and Finance at Time Life, Inc. Ralph has more than 25 years of professional experience in building businesses, as well as extensive experience developing and implementing strategic plans, mergers and acquisitions, e-commerce strategies, process improvement programs and other operational best practices. His professional experience includes positions as Senior Vice President of Operations and Finance at Book-of-the-Month Club, Inc., Executive Vice President of Operations and Finance at Scott Foresman & Company as well as Corporate Controller at Time Inc.
Mr. Cuomo earned a BS in Accounting from Brooklyn College and a Masters in Business Policy from Columbia University. He also earned his CPA in New York.
